Last year kind of everybody missed a great vacation because of the Covid19 pandemic. The lucky ones that travelled, could also not really fully enjoy their trip, because of all the restrictions and the cautiousness they had to face, to keep everyone safe. Now that things s seem to be getting a little better than last year, we should make a blast of our summer and enjoy our free time spent with our families. Of course, safety first this year also, but this should apply in every situation (Covid or not), especially when traveling with kids.
We know that planning a holidaying with babies and toddlers can be significantly more challenging than planning an adult trip - you need to consider a lot of extra things to have everything covered, like for example the average temperature and also sea temperature, kid friendly accommodations and attractions to keep your little ones busy, sandy beaches, flight duration and average cost.
Trying to find the perfect balance can become very stressful, so we've rounded up some of the best holiday destinations for toddlers and babies you should consider for 2021 (dependent on the coronavirus pandemic, of course).
Salema, The Algarve, Portugal
Salema is one of the best spots in Portugal for a kid friendly holiday. It has a fine golden sandy beach strip backed by cafes and seafood restaurants, with fossilized dinosaur footprints. It is one of the few fishing towns where you will be able to see the fisherman still bringing up their boats with their catch, which will be a great activity to show your toddlers.
The beach is flanked by cliffs of red sandstone and ancient yellow limestone, where in 2001 fossil hunters discovered dinosaur footprints in the cliff face. We bet this will be of great interest for the little ones.
Puerto de Soller, Majorca
With Mallorca's finest scenery, Port de Soller offers the only sandy beaches on the island. The sea is very sheltered so you can expect calm, shallow waters at the shore. You can hire sunbeds and parasols and lifeguards are on duty. The beach is surrounded with a beautiful promenade full of restaurants and cafes, where for sure you will find tasty food for all members of the family.
The charming town of Soller is a great place for an evening walk and the marina offers a lot of options for boat trips.
Puerto Mogan, Gran Canaria
Puerto Mogan is a picturesque village, holiday resort in the in the most westerly point on the island. It is called "Little Venice" or "The Venice of the Canaries" because it's fishing harbour is linked to the marina by many small canals. The clear water near the beach is calm and is a great place for snorkelling. Also, visitors can explore the fascinating underwater world by taking a trip on a yellow submarine or spending some time on a deep-sea fishing boat and catch world-record-sized tunas or marlins.
Gerakas Beach, Zakynthos, Greece
With it's unspoilt features and turquoise waters, Gerakas is one of the most beautiful beaches in Greece. This beach is a protected area of the Zakynthos Marine Park because of the Caretta-Caretta turtles’ choice to go there to hatch from May to October, so the access is forbidden from half an hour before the sunset to half an hour after dawn.
Talamanca Beach, Ibiza
The picturesque bay of Talamanca is just 15 minutes walk along the marina from Ibiza Town. A peaceful resort with a beautiful sandy beach. The beach has a gorgeously white and soft sand which will make you feel spoiled when stepping into it. The shallow turquoise coloured clear water is perfect for a swim to cool down in the summer heat. The location is all you need for a relaxing day with your family.
Lindos, Rhodes, Greece
Lindos is the most impressive archaeological site on the island of Rhodes. The streets of it are a maze of continuous buildings, chiefly with interior courtyards. The view is astonishing, the mighty castle of the Acropolis of Lindos is enthroned above, looking down over the calm waters of a wide, rocky bay with a golden, schallow, sandy beach and white flat-roofed houses.
Nice Beach, Côte d’Azur, France
For a more fancy and luxurious vacation Nice is in the top of destinations. The beaches in the city are all stone beaches, so you will need to have proper shoes to easily enter into the water and to avoid injuries, especially with the little ones. The closest "sandy" beach is only 20 minutes away from the city. by bus and it's not quite sandy, but rather with very small pebbles.
Ayia Napa, Cyprus
The best place in Cyprus, Ayia Napa resort town with it's great beaches it has a lot to offer for every type of tourist. Families will want to visit Water World, the biggest theme waterpark in Europe.
